“Purry” is a cat habitat tracking app that allows users to track stray or feral cats near their neighborhood. Users can take photos of the cats, add notes about their status, save their current location, and check if they have been Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR).
Fall 2020
“Purry” will let you track the cat population in your community, and record the habitat of each cat. You can also update the cats’ health status, such as if they have been TNR or have been losing weight. “Purry” keeps track of your paw friends and ensure they are always healthy and happy!
Cat Lovers
Cat lovers can record the cats that live near their neighborhood and use the app as a personal cat tracker.
Animal Volunteers
They can be cat volunteers who work at animal shelter organizations and use the app to track the cats' status and record the number of cats.
After combining all my research findings, I have developed a persona to define users challenges and goals. This is essential for me to identify the user needs and make design decisions.
To get a general representation of my app, I have drawn out an IA map. This helps me understand the flows and features of my application easier.
I then created some wirframes for the app, this helps me understand the app features and the flows more easily.
I developed a brand style guide for the app, and hoping it can express a friendly and warmth tone to the audience.
I then created a database using SQL and developed the app prototype using jQuery, Javascript and PHP. Here are the main features of my app.
Cat List Page
The cat list page lists out all the cats that the user records and they can be filtered and sorted easily. Each cat's basic information will be shown on the page, such as the breed and gender.
Cat Profile Page
Users can view the detailed cat profile page of the cats they added in the app, including the last seen status of the cat. They can also edit the profile details of the cat or update their status here.
Cat Status Page
Users can view the current and previous cat's locations that they pinned previously and view the status and descriptions recorded by the user before.
User Profile Page
Users are able to see personal information as well as the achievements they have earned using the Purry app. They will earn different badges when they have tracked a certain amount of cats.
